USA Industrial Production Surges to Post-Recession High!




Federal Reserve Statistical Release: Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization

The April 2012 USA monthly Industrial Production Index strongly increased +1.05 and +1.09% to 97.41 (preliminary) and a post-recession high. This is the highest reading since July 2008 (97.90), the 11th increase in the past 12 months, and the largest monthly increase since May 2010.

The USA Industrial Production Index is at a post-recession high of 97.41 (preliminary). The pre-recession cyclical peak was 100.74 in September 2007. After the Great Recession cyclical low of 83.46 in June 2009, USA industrial production increased 15 consecutive months (July 2009 through September 2010). In the 19 months following, there have been 15 increases and 4 decreases.
